Teaching 295

1 Mankind, you have misinterpreted the meaning of life, because you have given greater importance to the material than to the spiritual. If it were not so, my renewed coming among you would not have been necessary. But hear how my word invites you to exaltation and spiritualization because I see that men live indifferent to reality.

2 My teaching is for you to take an interest in the life that awaits you and that will be eternal. It is to banish from your heart the fear of leaving the human shell - the fear of death. My word wants to free you from all your errors.

3 Verily I say to you, there is no death because the Creator is life and his works cannot die

4 It is man who has created death with his imagination, and who has also created hells and heavens according to his poor comprehension. What right ideas could he then have about my existence, about my righteousness, and about the truth about eternal life? There is only confusion in the hearts of men, and this confusion forms part of the foundations on which the beliefs of the majority rest. What future awaits humanity if it continues to stray from the true path? Only misery, confusion and pain, of which it has a foretaste in the life full of misfortunes that it leads on earth.

5 The teaching of the Spirit, my teaching, people, is the ray of light which breaks through the darkness in which you are caught. Only through it will men reach the point of having a perfect and comprehensive teaching about their spiritual destiny and a true knowledge of the existence of my righteousness.

6 The people of today cannot think of God without giving Him a visible form in some way. They cannot speak of temptations without personifying the influence of evil in a being whose task it is to corrupt souls, nor can they think of the atonement of him who has sinned without imagining the punishment of hellfire, which never existed.

7 To these three errors, which rule the minds of men, I say to you If you believe that God is the Holy Spirit, there is no reason to seek Him in material forms, since He is Spirit. And that imaginary being which you call Lucifer or Satan exists only in the minds of those who could not spiritually interpret my words, revelations and messages of past times.

Verily, I tell you, in the "spiritual valley" there are great spirits of darkness that sow discord, hatred and corruption. There are innumerable spirits, whose influence reaches men when they give them bad thoughts and incite them to bad works. But these beings are not demons; they are imperfect, disturbed, confused beings obscured by pain, envy, or vindictiveness. Marvel not either when I tell you that their nature is the same as that which your soul has, and the same as they have those beings who are called angels by you.

8 Why do ye not call the wicked men that dwell on the earth demons, because they likewise deceive you, that they also incite you to evil, and turn you from the true way? Like the confused beings of the hereafter, they are likewise imperfect souls, but who have attained power and authority because an ideal of greatness has seized them.

9 Verily I say to you, neither among those who dwell on earth, nor among those who are in the spiritual, do I have enemies. There is not one who hates me, blasphemes against me, or leads his neighbor astray from the good way out of pure joy in insulting me. Lie! Those who turn men away from faith, who erase my name from the heart of their fellow men, and who fight against the spiritual, do not do this to offend me. They do it because this is necessary for their earthly striving for power, their dreams of greatness and human glory.

10 The same is true of those beings of the hereafter who have not awakened to the light which lifts them up into the way of love. They have tried to be great by mere knowledge, and when they influence their brothers and sisters and lead them astray from the good path, it is not with the intention of causing me pain, of rivalling my power, of taking pleasure in the victory of evil over good - no. The motive, although bad, is not to offend Me. How can you think during your whole life that a mighty enemy stands against me, who constantly snatches from me what is mine?

11 How can you think that I have put in the way of men an infinitely more powerful being than they are, so that it would constantly deceive them, and that it would finally push them into eternal ruin?

12 How badly do you think of me and my righteousness - you who say that you have knowledge of me and love me!

13 Though the bad try the good, the strong abuse the weak, the unrighteous mock the innocent, and the unclean hurt him who is pure. But these are temptations that the one who meets them can reject, because he has weapons and a shield to fight and defend himself. His sword is his conscience, and behind it are morality, faith and reason, so as not to be seduced by the bad influences. But he must not only do this, but also sow virtue with his works and resist evil as much as possible. When he sees that some sow ruin, vice, and destruction, he will set out to sow light, to save the stray, and to raise up him who has fallen.

14 It is the eternal battle of good against evil and of light against darkness - an indispensable battle to rise up and reach the heights of perfection.

15 For me it is just as meritorious when a being stained with the trace of heaviest transgressions, inspired by a high ideal, purifies itself, as when a being, which has steadfastly remained pure, struggles until the end not to stain itself, because it loved the light from the very beginning

16 How far from the truth are those who think that the spirits of confusion have a different nature from the spirits of light!

17 The Father would be unjust if this were true, just as He would no longer be the Almighty, if He lacked wisdom and love to save the defiled, the unclean, the imperfect, and could not unite them with all the righteous in one and the same home

18 Disciples: If man has a true knowledge of the works which he has done, he will not be blinded by vanity. He knows that - if this base feeling were to penetrate his being - his intelligence would become clouded and he would be unable to progress on the path of development, he would stop and sink into lethargy.

19 Vanity has ruined many people, has destroyed many thriving peoples and brought your cultures to ruin.

20 As long as the nations had drive, efficiency, and progress as ideals, they experienced abundance, splendor, and prosperity. But when arrogance made them feel superior, when their ideal of upward development was replaced by the insatiable ambition of wanting to have everything for themselves, they began, step by step, without them realizing it and without wanting it, to destroy everything they had built up, and finally fell into the abyss.

21 The history of mankind is full of such experiences. Therefore I tell you that it is right for a people with great ideals to arise in the world, which - although always aware of its good works - does not imagine anything about them. In this way its course will not be halted, and the splendor achieved so far will be surpassed tomorrow and increased again later.

22 When I speak to you in this way, I try to inspire you not only material goals: I want my words to be correctly interpreted so that you may know how to apply them to the spiritual as well as to the material.

23 Vanity cannot afflict man only in his material life, and as proof of what I tell you, consider the falls and failures of the great denominations, which are gnawed in their foundations by vanity, arrogance, their false splendor. Whenever they believed to be at the height of their power, someone came and shook them out of their dreams, showed them their errors, their aberrations, their deviations from the law and from the truth.

24 Only through the real knowledge and fulfillment of my law in the face of conscience will this mankind be able to ascend to a superior life; for conscience, which is my light, is perfect, is unclouded, is righteous, never becomes vain or goes crooked ways.

25 Tell me if it is not a spiritual teaching that men need to get closer to the truth. Because this teaching, which mankind needs so much, is exactly the one which I have brought to you.

26 When this word is spread throughout the world, and men ask who inspired it and who dictated it so that it might be written down, let the messengers and sowers of it testify that it was the Holy Spirit who revealed it through the prepared minds of its voices.

27 When this humanity receives my message, it will remember Jesus, that humble Nazarene who preached on the mountains, in the desert, on the banks of the rivers and in the valleys. For his word did not need material temples, because where it wanted to express itself, the inner temple of the crowd of listeners rose up, whose hearts opened like calyxes of flowers in the sunshine.

28 Now I am at the door of every heart, but it is necessary that mankind, when they remember my promise to return, remember also that I never announced that my presence would be again as man, but that I made you understand that this return would be in spirit

29 Now is the time of understanding, of enlightenment of soul and mind, in which man will finally seek me spiritually because he will recognize that God is neither a person nor a fantasy, but unlimited and absolute universal spirit.

30 This teaching, known only to a few and not taken note of by mankind, will soon reach all the suffering as a healing balm, to give comfort, to ignite faith, to dispel darkness and instill hope. It lifts you above sin, misery, pain and death.

31 It could not be otherwise at all, for it is I, the Divine Physician, the promised Comforter, who has revealed it to you

32 At all times my teaching has made it clear to you that their inmost being is love. Love is the essence of God. From this power all beings draw to live; from it life and all creation sprang. Love is the origin and the goal in the destiny of all that was created by the Father. In the face of that power that moves, illuminates and enlivens everything, death disappears, sin evaporates, passions pass away, impurities are washed away and all that is imperfect is perfected.

33 I came into the world in the Second Age to prove the power of love with my teaching and my examples, which remained indelibly imprinted in your minds. Nevertheless, I, who overcame the pain of the world and death through love, ask you men who are still developing: Have you already learned to overcome the pain of the world and death?

34 I have seen that ye still celebrate the day of the dead. But why? Is it your way in which you celebrate the victory over death? No, mankind, do not err, recognize that you celebrate with it the worship of body matter and the love for the world. In this cult for those who have been lowered into the depths of the earth, you remove yourselves from and forget the souls that represent true and eternal life. When I see you watering a grave with tears or covering it with flowers, I cannot help but apply to you those words of mine that tell you: "You are dead men who watch over their dead.

35 To those who have understood My Word and apply it to their lives, I charge them to pray for all those who in their materialism falsify the meaning of the Truth and who in their science, arrogant and vain, finally consider themselves wise, creative and strong, mocking those who approach God and send their petitions to Him They believe to hold the fate of humanity in their hands, not knowing that they too are subject to my Divine Justice. They need your prayers and spiritual help more than any other.

36 These people have strayed into their idolatrous cult for the body - a cult that is practiced by means of science. But they, too, will awaken in the great trials that are destined for them, and through them they will finally understand that there is something in man that is beyond intelligence, which is the spiritual soul, and that there is something even higher than earthly science, which is the knowledge of spiritual life.

37 Only when it is no longer the intellect that prompts the spirit to observe and delve into science, but when the spirit lifts and instructs the intellect, will man discover that which seems to him at present unfathomable, and which is nevertheless destined to be revealed to him as soon as he has spiritualized his intelligence.

38 If you hear any of my teaching, you may well understand and even sense the chaos of worldviews that is coming your way.

39 The time of idolatry is now coming to an end, and the time of spiritualization will soon have its entry into the heart of man. All idols will fall to the ground and make way for the truth, and there the true altar of God will be built.

40 I am the light, the truth and the life. I am the open book.

41 From the beginning of mankind, men have sought the origin of life and the reason for everything that surrounds it. For this purpose they have used the power of their intellect, the light of intelligence. From this their sciences and their philosophies have emerged. But since the human mind is too limited to grasp the truth, which only the spirit can understand and penetrate, there has been little that his science has been able to discover of this truth.

42 Men have not sought this light in the spiritual - but I am spirit. Whoever therefore wants to find the source of life, the light of truth, and the origin of all created things, must first seek me - seek me with the soul through prayer, the desire for knowledge, to love his neighbor and serve him better, to rise above the needs of human life. The teachings will be revealed to him, which others, struggling with the mind, have discovered only after centuries.

43 I am love, and he who seeks me must do it inspired by love.

44 Man is a reflection of the Creator, an image of God. Children must inevitably become like the father from whom they came forth. This resemblance is rooted in the spiritual soul, since it is endowed with attributes of God and, moreover, has eternal life. Matter, that is: the human body is only a temporary garment of the soul.

45 The Father sent the souls to inhabit this earth so that they would find on it means for their unfolding, trials to become strong, lessons to be filled with light, opportunities without end to acquire merits which would elevate them above this life, free them from matter and lead them to the spiritual kingdom. But man has not yet won the battle, has not mastered matter, has not made the world his servant. On the contrary - he has let himself be ruled by forces and elements that stand under him. Man believes himself to be master of the world, when in reality he is nothing but a slave to matter.

46 As long as he does not win this battle, he will not have conquered spiritual life for himself.

47 But do not believe that I want men to break away from earthly laws to devote themselves exclusively to the spiritual. No, people, I want you to use what the Father has created and offered to mankind for your welfare, for your development and for your ascent - that you learn to rule over material life with its nature kingdoms, forces and beings. But in order to achieve this, it is necessary to go beyond what your intelligence achieves, that is, to work by means of the spirit soul, so that the Father, when he sees your noble goals - the love that you put into your works and the place that you knew how to give to your spirit soul - draws the curtain away from his secret treasury and grants you a spark of his wisdom that is to enlighten your soul.

48 The right thing is when the spirit reveals wisdom to the human mind, and not the mind gives "light" to the spirit. Many will not understand what I am telling you here, and that is because you have long since perverted the order of your lives.

49 See how man stands before and above all that surrounds him; that he is the only being endowed with freedom of will and conscience. From this freedom of will all aberrations, falls and sins of men have their origin. But these are transitory transgressions before justice and the eternity of the Creator. For afterwards conscience will prevail over the weaknesses of the body and the seductiveness of the soul. With it will come the victory of light, which is knowledge over darkness, which means ignorance. There will be the victory of good, which is love, justice and harmony, over evil, which is selfishness, licentiousness, injustice.

50 If you look at your life and the history of mankind, you will discover that this struggle has always existed from the beginning of creation to the present time - a struggle necessary for the perfection of your soul, as necessary as fire to purify gold.

51 Who who hears this teaching can think that a single human existence can suffice for a soul's full development and perfection?

52 Oh you men who are too busy with human life and make yourselves believe that you are eternally on earth, not knowing that because of your materialization you have to come into the world in new bodies to take the step you were not able to take on the previous occasion!

53 But neither do the many reincarnations give a soul absolute perfection. However highstanding it may be after its last existence on earth - the "spiritual valley" with its innumerable life worlds, its new teachings, revelations and miracles still awaits it.

54 Once you have travelled the way and reached the thresholds of the pure and perfect, you will understand the reason for your existence, you will truly dwell in the light.

55 Here on earth I have divided the spiritual life of mankind into three stages, times or ages, in which I revealed to you, little by little, lesson by lesson, the Wisdom you must all possess

56 The first time is as it were the spiritual childhood of man, in which he opens the eyes and sees the face of his father, he hears him, but is still far from understanding him. The proof of this is that he tried to obey Him by clinging to the letters of the texts without penetrating with his soul into the meaning of the same.

57 In the Second Time I, "the Word", came to dwell with you in Jesus and to show you with my life the way of the soul. This Second Time is that of growing up or of the first spiritual youth. It is the age in which Christ taught men love, to awaken the sleeping strings of their hearts so that their hearts would vibrate with a new feeling, with the powerful impulse of love for their Father and for their neighbor.

58 In these two kinds of love I summarized all the law, all my teaching: love of God, the author of life, the Father, the Creator, and love of one another.

59 The law has always been present in consciences. Generations go, and generations come, souls wander on, and souls come, but my word remains firm and unchanging. Nevertheless, man has been slow of understanding and hard-hearted, and there have been few who have understood the loving spirit of my teaching.

60 People multiply and grow. But as soon as their intelligence awakens, they turn away from the spiritual to strive for the glory of the world, wealth or science. As a result, their fruits could not be quite as sweet as your heart would like. A bitter taste has always remained in your mouth.

61 But do not think that my word condemns your works in principle or condemns what your science has achieved. No, people, it is not I who tell you in words that you are only one step away from the abyss - it is the facts, the results of your lack of spiritualization.

62 But just at the moments when you are approaching the abyss, the loud bell sounds in the clock of eternity, indicating the beginning of a new time: the Third Age - the time when the Holy Spirit shines in consciences and is shining forth as wisdom, as light that unravels mysteries - as power that lifts up, awakens to new life, comforts and saves

63 It is the most subtle and highest form which the Father has used to speak to men. For men two ages have already passed, and they have reached the maturity of the soul. They can now grasp and understand deeper lessons.

64 This is the "Third Age" in which the soul of man must free itself from the chains of materialism. This will bring with it the struggle of world views, which will be more violent than the history of mankind knows.

65 Corruption, egoism, pride, vice, lies, and everything that has overshadowed your life will fall like broken idols at the feet of those who worshiped them, to make way for humility.

66 How will you be able to help in this struggle? With the powerful weapon of prayer - not with prayers of the word, but by elevating the mind.

67 My Spirit - infinitely more subtle than the air that surrounds you - will be present, receiving your prayer and at the same time transforming it into peace and balm for your fellow men

68 Your thoughts will become sparks of light in space and will reach as a message to that mind that needs clarity for its thinking.

69 Your intercession will be accomplished, for the peace of my kingdom is coming to earth, and your works will become as it were the first seed of spiritualization, which in the Third Age will fall into the bosom of the earth
