From the Gospel of Perfect Life - Chapter 81 - The Roman Interrogation before Pilate
1. Then they brought Jesus from Caiaphas before the Judgment House to Pontius Pilate, the governor, and it was early, and they did not go to the Judgment House, so that they would not be unclean, but keep the feast.
2. Then Pilate went out to them and said, "What good are you to bear against this man?" They answered and said to him, "If he were not an evil doer, we would not have delivered him to you. 3. Then Pilate said to them, "Take him and judge him according to your law." For he knew that they had delivered him out of envy.

It was a beautiful animal, well fed, looking like it is only sleeping; it had no visible injuries and may have simply died of old age.
