295 - Verse 7 - 13
Verily I say to you, in the "Spiritual
Valley" there are great spirits of darkness who sow discord, hatred and
corruption. There are countless spirits whose influence reaches people when
they give them bad thoughts and incite them to do bad works. But these beings
are not demons; they are imperfect, disturbed, confused beings who are darkened
by pain, resentment or vengefulness. Do not be surprised if I tell you that
their nature is the same as that of your soul and the same as that of the
beings you call angels.
8 Why do you not call the evil people who
inhabit the earth demons, since they also seduce you, since they also incite
you to evil and lead you astray from the true path? Like the confused beings of
the hereafter, they are also imperfect souls, but they have gained power and
authority because an ideal of greatness has taken hold of them.
9 Verily, I tell you, neither among those who
dwell on earth nor among those who are in the spiritual realm do I have
enemies. There is not one who hates Me, blasphemes against Me or leads his
neighbor astray from the good path for the sheer joy of offending Me. Lie!
Those who turn people away from the faith, who erase my name from the hearts of
their fellow human beings and who fight against the spiritual do not do so in
order to insult me. They do it because it is necessary for their earthly
striving for power, their dreams of greatness and human glory.
10 The same applies to those beings in the
beyond who have not awakened to the light that lifts them onto the path of
love. They have tried to be great through mere knowledge, and when they
influence their brothers and sisters and lead them astray from the good path,
it is not with the intention of causing Me pain, of rivaling My power, of
delighting in the victory of evil over good - no. The motive, although bad, is
not to offend Me. How can you think throughout your lives that I am opposed by
a powerful enemy who is constantly snatching what is mine?
11 How can you think that I have placed in the
path of men a being infinitely more powerful than they are, so that it might
continually seduce them and finally push them into eternal destruction?
12 How badly you think of Me and My
righteousness - you who claim to know and love Me!
13 It is true that the wicked tempt the good,
the strong abuse the weak, the unjust mock the innocent, and the impure injure
the pure. But these are temptations that those who encounter them can reject
because they have weapons and a shield to fight and defend themselves. His
sword is his conscience, and behind this are morality, faith and reason, so
that he does not allow himself to be seduced by bad influences. However, he
must not only do this, but also sow virtue with his works and resist evil as
much as possible. When he sees that some are sowing corruption, vice and
destruction, he will set out to sow light, to save those who have gone astray
and to lift up those who have fallen.
