Book of True
Life – Volume 10 – Instruction 307:6
2. If you
ask Me what the secret is to attaining and preserving peace, then I tell you
that the secret lies in doing the will of your Father. And if you were to ask
Me how to fulfill the divine will, I would answer that it is by applying My law
and My teaching to your lives.
3. Some are
disappointed when they hear Me say that the greatest thing I give you is peace.
For they would prefer to hear Me say that I have come to distribute the
treasures and goods of this world. The reason for this is that they do not know
what peace is—and they are not the only ones.
Who knows peace? What human being can claim to possess it? No one, My people. That is why I see many for whom what I bring as the greatest gift for you—peace—seems insignificant. Once you come to know what this state of the soul is, you, in turn, will do everything in your power not to lose this grace, for through it you will have a glimpse of what spiritual life in the Kingdom of Light will be like.
4. Since you
do not know what true peace is, you content yourselves with longing for it and
try by every possible means and in every conceivable way to attain a little
peace of mind, comfort, and satisfaction—but never what true peace of the soul
really is. I tell you that it is attained only through a child’s obedience to
the will of the Lord.
5. The world
lacks good explainers of My Word, good interpreters of My Instructions.
Therefore, humanity—even insofar as it calls itself Christian—lives in
spiritual backwardness, because there is no one to shake it with My true
teaching, no one to nurture hearts with the love with which I taught
people.
6. Day after
day—in parish halls, churches, and cathedrals—people utter My name and repeat
My words, yet no one is moved inwardly; no one is stirred by their light, and
this is because people have misunderstood their meaning. Most believe that the
power of Christ’s Word lies in mechanically repeating it over and over again,
without realizing that it is not necessary to recite it, but rather to study
it, reflect on it, put it into practice, and live by it.
7. If people
were to seek the meaning within the Word of Christ, it would always be new,
fresh, alive, and relevant to their lives. But they know it only superficially,
and so they cannot draw nourishment from it, nor will they ever be able to in
this way.
8. Poor
humanity—wandering in darkness, even though the light is so close to them,
lamenting in fear, even though peace is within reach! Yet people cannot see
that divine light because there are those who have mercilessly blindfolded
them. I, who truly love you, come to your aid by freeing you from the darkness
and proving to you that all that I told you in those days was intended for all
time, and that you must not regard that divine Word as an ancient teaching from
a bygone era. For the love that was the essence of all My Instruction is
eternal, and in it lies the secret of your salvation in this age of straying,
immeasurable suffering, and unbridled passions.
9. Nor is it
a new teaching that I bring to you at this time, but a light so that you may
understand all that has been revealed to you from the earliest times to the
present.
